THE IRISH CHRISTMAS Tree Throwing Championship took place yesterday in Ennis, Co Clare.
In it, participants had to hurl a “standard 1.5 metre” Christmas tree as far as they possibly could.
It was an exciting occasion. The winner was Gary O’Growney, who chucked his tree a mighty 10.2 metres to equal the current Irish record. But there were a number of techniques on show:
1. The Epic Underarm Lob
2. The Right-Side Hurl With Grimace
3. The Running Fling
4. The Whole Body Twist-And-Chuck
5. And the Sideways Double-Fisted Heave
Which is your favourite?
(All proceeds from the event went to the Clare branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.)
