THERE’S NOTHING LIKE staying in a nice hotel. It’s always a treat to get away and spend a night or two in a room with a comfortable atmosphere, crisp white bed sheets and a framed photograph of Christopher Walken.
OK maybe not the last part. But for one Cork man, that was the dream. For a joke, Daniel Buckley made an oddly specific request when booking a hotel room in the Pembroke Kilkenny.
Buckley told KCLR96fm that when he was offered the opportunity to make a special request on the booking site, he had bigger plans than the usual requests for extra pillows.
He decided to get creative and asked for:
A framed photo of Christopher Walken (signed if possible) from Pulp Fiction, as my father was an assistant to Mr. Walken for this film and this was his greatest accomplishment. We like to be reminded of this!
He told KCLR96fm that as you would expect, this story was completely fabricated. “I don’t even think my father knows who Christopher Walken is”.
Pembroke Kilkenny responded excellently. The manager, Courtney, was not entirely sure if his father had actually been Christopher Walken’s assistant, but nonetheless she was ready for a bit of a laugh and to give Daniel some quality customer service.
Courtney overcame the obstacle of having to purchase an expensive autographed photo by finding Walken’s autograph online and getting one of the girls in the hotel to copy it onto the photo
When Daniel arrived to his room and saw the photo, he laughed so much that he dropped his bags on the ground.
At this stage, the sun was shining on the photograph so he didn’t even realise that it’d been signed.
Funnily enough, this isn’t Daniel’s first elaborate demand that has been met by a hotel
In 2015 he requested a framed photo of the horse from Father Ted’s “My Lovely Horse” because it soothes him.
Let’s hope that the next hotel he stays in is ready for him, because we have a feeling that the next request will only be more complex than these two.
