RUGBY STAR CIAN Healy has attracted the ire of Repeal the 8th supporters after posting an ‘ignorant’ tweet about a Repeal mural.

Ya ain’t alternative unless you’re in front of a blue wall these days

Many have assumed the ‘blue wall’ in the tweet refers to the Project Arts Centre in Dublin, the former site of a Repeal the 8th mural by the artist Maser.

The artwork was painted over on Monday due to planning rules – yesterday, supporters gathered in front of the blank blue wall to protest its removal.

People have been tweeting their ‘disappointment’ over Healy’s comment:

Others have wondered if it’s possible that he’s referring to the Leinster rugby team, who wear blue jerseys:

Healy later apologised for the tweet, claiming ‘ignorance’ to what the protest was actually about:

This isn’t the first time he has been involved in a Twitter spat – last year, he was criticised for using the hashtag #BacksToTheWall in a tweet about a Pride concert in the US.
