VIDEO: Your weekend movies... Hansel, Gretel, and Marky Mark
WHICH NEW MOVIE release is worth the price of a cinema ticket this weekend?
We’re here to help you decide just that, with these trailers.
Broken City
(passmethepopcornsite/YouTube)
For fans of: CZJ, darlings
Avoid if: You’d like to protest against there not being enough CZJ in this film
This is Caaatherine Zeeeta Jooones, darlings. I know that this fiiilllm is alll about Mark and Russell, but really, let’s make sure you keep your eyes on meeee at all times, mmkay? I’m the beeeautiful shining beacon of wonderment that will make aaall that awful violence and bad language worthwhile. Kisses, darlings.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
(movieclipsTRAILERS/YouTube)
For fans of: Fairytales gone bad, vigilantism, witches
Avoid if: You preferred Hans Christian Anderson’s early stuff
There are some times when a film premise is so ludicrous you almost love it. Take this movie, which turns a childhood fairytale about two children fattened up by a witch into an over-blown story of vigilante-ism with bad special effects. It all looks ridiculous. Which might make it even more entertaining.
Stoker
(FilmsActuTrailers/YouTube)
For fans of: Mysterious uncles, blood, bad teens
Avoid if: You’d not like to see Dublin’s own Bram have his name sullied
Ah, Nicole Kidman and her actually-very-good American accent are back for a look at the story of India Stoker, whose father dies in a mysterious accident. He soon gets replaced by her uncle (awkward), who it transpires is very odd indeed. But rather than be repelled, she finds herself strangely attracted to his dangerous antics.
