Everyone fell for the lovely Clare farmer getting excited about his calves on the RTÉ News

He’d won the lotto.

ON SUNDAY, FOUR identical calves were born on Tom Clair’s farm outside Ennistymon, Co Clare.

It hit the news yesterday evening and Tom was over the moon.

So RTÉ News simply had to hit Ennistymon last night (coincidentally, the same location where Pint Baby was recorded back in 1997, making it the hub of viral stars in 2017) to get an interview with the ecstatic farmer.

And his sheer joy for his calves was infectious

And his happiness shone through with every passing word as he told the tale of how he had discovered there was four:

“And there she was lying, with two of them standing in front of her. And whatever side of her I look, I see a third one lying by her side. So I went over and I pulled up the third one and put him together… and I’m looking down I thought I heard a little baaa coming from outside the yard and I walked out and there was the fourth one standing outside. I couldn’t take in what I was after seeing”

Tom’s son Enda said it was a one in a billion chance to get four identical heifers – and Tom then finished the interview in typically excited fashion:

“Look at myself so excited about them but the whole country is excited about them! It’s lovely to see all the young lads that have come to see them”

People watching at home just loved it – and his interview has been watched nearly half a million times on Facebook

The proudest farmer in Ireland

The news can throw up the loveliest moments sometimes

Brilliant.
