Woman busted smuggling cocaine in pumpkins

IT WAS THE perfect Halloween costume for a stash of cocaine–a pumpkin.

Unfortunately, officials at the Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Canada weren’t buying the disguise.

Three pumpkins filled with cocaine, 4.4 pounds to be exact, were seized by officers yesterday after they noticed that they were particularly heavy.

The seasonally conscious smugglers were caught when border agency officers searched a female passenger’s luggage. Scanning equipment detected bags with a chalky substance hidden inside the pumpkin.

According to CNN, officers have seen 173 drug seizures in the Montreal airport so far this year.

It seems that a Halloween costume doesn’t make a difference. Squash those rumours right now.
