Colin Farrell's recent praise for Barry Keoghan would have you in absolute floods

“He has experienced a certain amount of desolation in his personal life.”

THERE’S NO DOUBT that Barry Keoghan’s career trajectory is accelerating with every role he undertakes.

After just seven years in the industry, the 25-year-old has made a name for himself as a disciplined, intense and highly skilled actor – attributes which Colin Farrell insist are all the more laudable given Barry’s tumultuous upbringing.

Having lost his mother to a heroin overdose, Barry was subsequently placed in foster care – experiences Colin insists he personally wouldn’t have been able to overcome.

While speaking at an awards show in Los Angeles this week, 41-year-old Colin, who stars opposite Barry in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, praised the young Dubliner for the courage he has shown in the face of adversity.

He has experienced a certain amount of desolation in his personal life, in his past, things that I would find in my contemplation of such loss, completely insurmountable.

Reflecting on Barry’s triumphs within the TV and film industry since his debut in 2011, Colin paid tribute to the young Dunkirk star’s grit and determination.

It’s really incredible what he has achieved in a few years. Anyone who knows Barry can testify to the fact that he has gone through a certain amount of experience in his own personal life.

Barry was presented with an Oscar Wilde Award by Colin at the award ceremony held by the US-Ireland Alliance on Wednesday.
