Colin Farrell confirmed that he is Ireland's soundest celebrity last night

Ah Colin, you auld gent.

COLIN FARRELL IS currently in town promoting his latest film The Lobster.

The mindbending film, which was shot in Kerry and has already picked up major international kudos, hits Irish cinemas next week, and Farrell dropped by The Late Late Show to big it up last night.

Among other things, he chatted about staying in the same hotel as the German soccer team (“They were very quiet in the bar last night”) and putting on weight for his latest role (“The old Abrakebabra gold card got an awful lot of use.”)

When asked how long he’s been single for, he had this rather cheeky response…

Six years now. I may not have been alone every night in bed.

During the interview, Farrell also spoke movingly about the recent marriage referendum.

“It just felt like the right thing to do,” he told Tubridy of his decision to speak out in favour of marriage equality on Claire Byrne Live.

I have yet to hear a really decent argument that was borne not just of awareness, but of pure fear, as to how the union and the recognised marital union between a same sex couple could in any way hinder a civic, caring and compassionate society in its own progress to a greater degree of emotional health and support for each other.
It was a great day for Ireland.

And as if we couldn’t love Farrell anymore, he also raised awareness for The Katie Rose Foundation, a charity set up to raise awareness of Mitochondrial Disease.

The general consensus after Farrell’s chat? He’s a good ol’ egg.
