CONOR MCGREGOR HAS gotten himself on the wrong side of Twitter after he posed alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, and dubbed him ‘one of the greatest leaders of our time’.
The Dubliner, who turned 30 on Saturday, paid tribute to the hugely divisive political figure in a post he shared on both Instagram and Twitter last night.
Conor, whose partner Dee is expecting their second child, explained that he attended the World Cup final at the invitation of President Putin in a post which went down like a lead balloon in the hours that followed.
Today I was invited to the World Cup final as a guest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This man is one of the greatest leaders of our time and I was honored to attend such a landmark event alongside him.
Today was an honor for me Mr. Putin. Thank you and congratulations on an amazing World Cup.
Enjoying the World Cup final in Russia. A truly amazing spectacle!
The UFC champion was the subject of intense backlash as members of the public suggested Conor take a moment to consider what it means to be a ‘great leader’.
Here are just a few of the reactions born of Conor’s controversial post.
Interesting. Who are your top three greatest leaders of our time and why? Take your time.
