LONG BEFORE YOUR Macs and your Nars and your Sleeks and your Charlotte Tilburys, there was only one name in makeup in Ireland…. Constance Carroll.
1. It was affordable
So affordable, in fact, that you got it in the Poundshop.
2. The powder was THE must-have item
Forget primers and foundation and contouring. A heavy dusting of Constance Carroll face powder was enough to turn you into a glamazon of epic proportions.
3. Foundation in only one shade
If you were going all out it was either Constance Carroll foundation or Max Factor pan stick. Choice was limited. Colours were even more limited.
4. Iced Mocha lipstick
A worthy challenger to Rimmel’s Heather Shimmer throne.
5. Rollerball lipglosses
A sweet and sticky treat from Constance Carroll. You spent most of your time pulling your hair off your lips/eating it like sweets.
6. Eyeshadow palettes
So many greens and blues and pinks to choose from. You had to be sure to bring it right up to your eyebrow too, for maximum impact.
7. Clear mascara
Useless on pale Irish eyelashes. Handy for taming wild Irish eyebrows. Inevitably turned orange after a few uses, because of all the pan stick.
