Cops could probe Bieber's alleged tryst with woman who wants paternity test

The pop superstar has emphatically denied he had sex with a woman who claims she has since given birth to his son.

THE WOMAN WHO claims she has given birth to Justin Bieber’s baby could be investigated for having sex with a minor because the pop superstar was 16 at the time.

AP reports that Los Angeles police have confirmed that Mariah Yeater could be investigated.

The woman alleges she had a brief sexual encounter with the singer in a backstage bathroom at the Staples Centre in LA in October last year and gave birth to his son in July.

It is illegal in California to have sex with someone under 18. If the other person is not more than three years older, it is a misdemeanour, which carries a sentence of up to one-year in jail.

Bieber’s representatives have strenuously denied the allegations that he is the father of the three-month-old boy.

A judge will hear Yeater’s demands for a paternity test and child support at a hearing on 15 December in San Deigo.

One of Yeater’s lawyers has said the issue of possible statutory rape should not affect the paternity claim: “The issue of statutory rape, even if she’s guilty, hypothetically, that has no bearing on the duties to provide child support. It’s a totally separate issue,” said Matthew Pare.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reports that fans of Bieber, or ‘Beliebers’ as they’re known, have made online death threats against 20-year-old Yeater.

One fan tweeted: “I could kill this bitch, really she messes with my baby!!! SHE IS SOOO DEAD”

Bieber appeared on NBC’s Today morning show today to deny the allegations in person saying he had “never met the woman”, USA Today reports.

After that appearance he tweeted to say:
