Glee actor Cory Monteith died from heroin and alcohol overdose

The 31-year-old was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday.

THE BRITISH COLUMBIA coroner has confirmed that Glee actor Cory Monteith died as a result of a mixed drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol.

In a videotaped statement Barbara McLintock said that primary cause of the fatal toxicity was heroin.

The actor, who was 31, was found dead in a hotel room in Vancover on Saturday.

Earlier this year he publicly confirmed his struggles with addiction and entered a rehab facility in April.

Monteith was found by staff at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel on Saturday having returned to his room alone earlier on Friday evening. The alarm was raised when he failed to check out on time.

He was in a relationshop with Glee co-star Lea Michele, who has appealed for privacy.
