AN AUSTRALIAN COUPLE sold their house for an extra $140,000 AUD (€96,513) when they added their cat in as part of the sale.
The Percevals’ five-bed Melbourne home received an initial bid of $2,060,000 AUD but agent Glen Coutinho ran into trouble with the negotiation. A child of a bidder had ‘fallen in love’ with the family’s cat, Tiffany, who would wander the house during viewings.
The buyer offered to pay €2,200,000 AUD, on the condition that Tiffany was included with the house.
Fran Perceval told the Herald Sun that it was a difficult decision to sell that cat, but she was hugely popular among viewers.
People would come through, and she’d observe them and be patted. She loved all the attention.
The family agreed to the deal, but 19-year-old son Sam was less than impressed as he adopted Tiffany after feeling sorry for her being the last to sell out of a litter. His parents say he’s hoping to to travel next year, so considered putting the cash pile beside the cat to see what he would choose.
While it was hard to part with Tiffany, the Percevals are left with two rabbits, two dogs and a fish and tell the Herald Sun they’ll consider adopting another cat from the RSPCA.
