13 things you'll only know if you cry really easily
PEOPLE GENERALLY TEND to fall into one of three categories when it comes to the expression of emotion; non-criers, standard criers and constant bawlers.
We all know a non-crier; a person who prides themselves on not having shed a tear since enduring a particular woeful Chinese burn from someone in the year above during Sports Day, 1998.
Then you have the criers; they’re not adverse to showing emotion, and have shed a tear at occasions that really call for it, like the passing of a relative or the death of a movie dog.
And then you have the constant bawlers.
These people have cried at toilet roll adverts, the sight of a lone glove and the mere thought of an old man carrying a bouquet of flowers.
And if you’re one of the latter, you’ll know that the following things have definitely struck a nerve.
1. Surprise homecomings on YouTube.
Yes, you don’t know them, but what the hell does that matter?
2. Testimonials about weightloss.
Yep, you’ve actually shed tears over this stranger’s ‘journey’.
3. The National Anthem.
You’ve done it in public, and made no bones about it either.
4. Christmas songs from your childhood.
Away in a Manger or Little Donkey? Yep, us too.
5. Absolutely anything wedding-related.
YouTube proposals, Say Yes to the Dress or wedding speeches; there’s no stopping you.
6. An old person eating alone.
Without a newspaper, book or phone in sight. Bonus points if they’re drinking a glass of milk.
7. Dogs doing, well, anything.
We mean, you’re only human.
8. Reeling in the Years.
Throw a Cranberrries song over footage of a political protest, and you’re a goner.
9. RTÉ’s coverage of Santa leaving the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
The effort that goes into increasing excitement in homes around Ireland on December 24 would bring a tear to a glass eye, to be fair.
10. The thought of someone laughing at your mam.
Well. first there’s fury, and then – when you think of her little face – there’s tears.
11. The Olympics.
And the compilation footage on the final day? Nope, too much.

12. Seeing a stranger help a stranger.
They don’t know each other, and yet you can just feel the love, right?
13. Occasions which should bring happiness.
While everyone else is whooping and hollering, you’re standing there with tears sliding down your face.
