LARRY HAGMAN, WHO is set to reprise his role as JR Ewing in Dallas, has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Hagman has said that it is very treatable, although the type of cancer he has has not been revealed.

American publication TV Guide was the first to announce the news, and reports that Hagman is to go ahead with reprising his role as super baddie JR Ewing in a Dallas revival which will air on the TNT network.

Hagman turned 80 last month, and in a statement said:

As JR I could get away with anything… bribery, blackmail and adultry. But I got caught by cancer. I do want everyone to know that it is a very common and treatable form of cancer [...] Besides, as we all know, you can’t keep JR down.

Hagman underwent a liver transplant in 1995, after years as a heavy drinker.
