JUST SOME NIGHTMARE fodder to start your Monday morning off.

Here is what happens when you pour soy sauce over a dead cuttlefish. (Or, as it’s otherwise known, “dancing squid”.)

The video, which has lived on the internet for a few years, has gone viral once again thanks to a Vine being shared widely on Twitter.

So, is the “dancing squid” dead? Yes.

The science behind this phenomenon is simple – the sodium in the soy sauce causes the cuttlefish’s muscles to come alive and do a little dance.

Terrifying.
