THIS IS CROSSFIT guru Dave Driskell.
For anyone unfamiliar with CrossFit, it’s an ‘exercise philosophy’ and competitive sport involving aerobic exercises, calisthenics and weight lifting.
Driskell travels the world teaching the sport, and was on a layover in Berlin yesterday when he stopped by the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.
Oh, and did a handstand on it.
Driskell deleted the Instagram after criticism in the comments, but it lives on in screenshots and the many, many tweets about the gaffe:
Last night, Driskell posted an apology on his Instagram account, explaining that he had stopped in Berlin on a quick layover and didn’t know what the memorial was:
People were walking on the pillars. Kids running around. People sitting on them. I took a handstand picture with it as the background. I truly did not know what the structure was.
“I feel completely terrible as I would never purposefully offend or disrespect this memorial had I known,” he continued.
Back to history class, Driskell.
