GUY RITCHIE’S NEW film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is set to be released next week – and it tells the classic medieval tale of one man pulling a sword out of a rock to become King.
Ritchie is good friends with one David Beckham.
And he’s given him a prominent cameo role in the movie
The first clip of which was released this week… and Becks plays a supporting role during the most iconic moment of the whole film
There he is.
Not a bad role for a first timer.
Since the preview was released, the overriding reaction to seeing Becks on the big screen has been… “eh, no”
Perhaps it’s his well-known voice… you just can’t imagine it being anyone but Becks
There’s no doubt that he looks the part, in fairness
But the overall picture so far has been two thumbs down from the audience
HE CAN GET BETTER (maybe)
The premiere was on in London last night, and Ritchie even had to answer questions about the criticism
As Sky reports, Guy had nothing but praise for Beckham the thespian:
He was fantastic, I love old Becksy. He is a fabulous actor and a real pleasure to be with.
But when he was asked if he saw a future in acting for his friend, he was a little less enthusiastic:
I don’t know yet, one step at a time.
Ooooh. Not great.
We”ll have to wait for the actual film to come out to give a full judgement – but it’s hard to know if he’s going to get any more lines than what we’ve already seen. And he already has this iconic one in the bank for his showreel:
Baaunncing ahn my knee!
