A complete history of David Beckham and Snoop Dogg’s unlikely friendship
SNOOP DOGG AND David Beckham have actually been close friends for a full decade.
Yes, this pair:
Eonline Eonline
It’s one of the most unlikely friendships.
One is a 45-year-old multi platinum-selling rapper, product of Dr Dre, and an unofficial global ambassador for weed; the other a 41-year-old Order of the British Empire recipient, international football superstar and clean cut London boy.
When people hear about it, it barely stands to reason.
How did it all come about?
Back in the summer of 2007, when Beckham moved from Real Madrid to LA Galaxy, Snoop was filming a reality TV show called Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.
The premise of the show was to document Snoop, his wife Shanté, and their three kids’ day-to-day lives – and have the parents teach their children various tasks for our entertainment.
Beckham was drafted in to introduce them to soccer in an episode titled “Snoop It Like Beckham”.
And it was there a wonderful friendship was born
E! E!
A DailyMail story from the time – in which they delightfully refer to Snoop as “Mr Dogg” – documents the scene after their kickabout:

It was only a short couple of years later that the most surreal and incredible Snoop/Beckham news story was to emerge – presumably after the two had a little time to forge a close bond.
And it’s followed their friendship ever since:
Metro Metro
Could this really be true?
Well, yes.
In an interview with the Associated Press in 2010, Becks revealed how he was the first person to hear the finished Malice n Wonderland album:
“Since I moved to LA, we’ve become friends, funnily enough. His last album, he called me about 10 days before it came out and he said ‘I’ve just finished the album just this minute, why don’t you drive down to the studio and come in and listen to it?’”

And this was confirmed by Snoop the following year.
Speaking to BBC Radio, Snoop was glowing in his praise of Beckham as a father and revealed that Becks gets his music before the label even hears it:
It’s a beautiful thing.

Even as recently as 2014, it’s been reported that Snoop basically wants Beckham to drop his own album:
High praise indeed.
They’ve starred in Adidas commercials together
With some affectionate brand-authorised tweets thrown in for good measure
“I luv la!”
In 2012, Snoop had plans to invest in Celtic FC in Glasgow (?) and was hoping to get Beckham involved too.
As he confirmed in a Reddit AMA in December:

And for David’s 40th birthday in 2015, Snoop was planning something big in Vegas (which didn’t end up happening – but he talked a good game):
“My boy David” has such an affectionate tone to it.
Coming right up to the present day, David Blaine’s November 2016 TV special called Beyond Magic featured a trip to the Beckham’s gaff.
And sure enough there’s a giant picture of Snoop hanging in their house
Smoking, too.
For those unaware of the friendship, it was quite a puzzle
Beckham has talked in the past about how he’d like to collaborate on a Snoop record in the future, and sure aren’t they still hitting Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles when David’s on the west coast.
Pretty much.
