I REGULARLY SEND emails to myself.
Listen, it’s sometimes easier to remind myself of something via email than searching my desk for a pen or opening the note section of my phone.
And on multiple occasions – out of sheer habit – I have ended those emails with a kiss.
If anyone was to plumb the depths of my inbox, they’d be forgiven for assuming I was a hard and fast fan of a little self-adoration.
“The mundanity of this note suggests you could do with a little affection, Niamh. Sure, have an ‘x’ for yourself.”
In actual fact, I don’t tend to do anything of that nature; I’ve never bought myself flowers, or requested gift-wrapping on an online order, or treated myself to something in a manner that suggests it was gifted by someone else.
And it occurred to me today that most of us likely fall into one of two camps; mine and, well, Demi Lovato’s.
Demi ,who is reportedly in the midst of a break-up, made headlines today after she uploaded a photo of a bouquet of flowers alongside an exceptionally affectionate note… both of which she sent herself.
The card read:
You’re beautiful, you’re loved, and you’re worthy of a happy and healthy life.
Dead right; no arguments here.
Demi then offered fans a little background information by revealing that the gesture was an act of self-love, writing: “Cause sometimes you got to send yourself flowers… #selflove.”
Christ, more power to her and all that, but it’s not an act of self-love I’d naturally gravitate towards, but what about you?
Would you gift yourself flowers and a card if the mood took you?
