WHILE THE REST of us are eagerly anticipating the second season of Derry Girls, viewers in the United States are currently getting to grips with the first series of the Channel 4 series.
Shortly before Christmas, the highly-acclaimed show made its debut on US Netflix, and it’s going down an absolute storm across the Atlantic.
There is just one issue however; viewers in the States can’t make head nor tail of what anyone is saying.
Well, not without the help of subtitles, that is.
We mean, even those who feel a certain kinship with the Emerald Isle are struggling.
Had to turn on the subtitles for Derry Girls. Obviously still not as Irish adjacent as I’d like to think.

Then there are the folk who have had to admit defeat in recent weeks.
Of course there will always be some who desperately resist temptation.

Oh, and then there were the new fans who needed a little more than just subtitles.
Oh, and a quick word to the wise; according to Twitter, apparently ‘real’ Irish-adjacent American can watch Derry Girls without subtitles…
