THE NEW SERIES of Doctor Who premiered a couple of weeks ago, with Peter Capaldi stepping into the Doctor’s boots.

It’s been a success. But there’s just one problem.

(Some) Americans can’t understand his Scottish accent.

People over there are having to actually rewind the show to work out what he’s on about.

And yes, there are people wo are even having to switch on the subtitles.

New York-based dialect coach Patricia Fletcher told the Guardian it wasn’t just the accent – it’s also that Capaldi “speaks very quickly… without enough attention to articulating the end of his thought/line.”

In fairness, it’s not JUST Americans. There are a few English people too.

Is that a Yes to independence then?
