This new Irish documentary about piano lessons looks like an absolute joy
WE LOVE A good documentary, especially when it’s on a topic almost universally recgonised.

Who in Ireland didn’t have piano lessons as a kid? You’d go after school one night a week, and brag to your classmates about what grade you are.
A new documentary, Making the Grade, follows students and teachers of the piano as they all strive to meet their own personal goals when it comes to learning the instrument.
It genuinely looks like a lovely watch

The filmmakers traveled across the country in an attempt to discover what people get out of music, and the happiness the instrument brings.
The film features people from as far as Kylemore Abbey in Galway, down to Crosshaven in Cork, and up to Derry City.
Perhaps the biggest character to emerge from the trailer is the nun who teaches the instrument to young kids.
She’s not having any messers.
“It’s a habit, not a costume. I’m not dressing up for fancy dress!”
