A little cute dog climbed Mount Everest
A DOG RESCUED from a dump site on the brink of death has become the first pooch to climb Mount Everest.
Rupee made it to the Everest base camp (okay, not the actual summit) after a ten-day trek with owner Joanne Lefson.
She rescued him from a dump in Lakadh, northern India, when he was a puppy dying of starvation and unable to walk without collapsing, the Daily Mail reports.
Lefson fed Rupee an intensive diet of boiled eggs and rice, and he made a swift recovery. So much so that she decided to take him on her trek up the Himalayas, where he became the first dog ever recorded (officially, anyway) at Everest base camp.
“My greatest concern was wondering if Rupee could actually make it,” Lefson told the NY Daily News. “I prepared for the worst and arranged an extra porter just in case Rupee needed to hitch a ride.”
But he made it. These photos on Buzzfeed show Rupee celebrating at the top.
