Dog survives 90km ride stuck in bumper after being hit by car

The pooch named Victory is now looking for a new home.

A VERY LUCKY dog has survived a 90km journey hanging from a car bumper after being hit by a driver in Brazil.

The female animal – who came through the ordeal with just a broken leg – is now looking for a new adoptive home.

Driver Julius Caesar Smith, 35, struck the dog in the Itapetinga area earlier this week. He told G1 Globo that he noticed the bump, but did not stop as it was on a dangerous series of bends and he assumed the dog was dead.

Some 90km later, Smith was signalled by another driver that there was something lodged in the bumper of his car. He said:

When the guy told me, I stopped the car to see. My colleague and I found that a dog was still alive.

The dog – since renamed Victory – had broken through the bumper and was lodged inside it. She was taken to a clinic for treatment, where vet Lorena de Oliveira Figueira described her as “blessed by God”.

Victory is now seeking a new adoptive family.
