WE DIDN’T KNOW we needed a buddy comedy between Chris O’Dowd and Domhnall Gleeson, but the latter’s lovely comments about Chris have convinced us.
Domhnall was chatting to Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast at the Sundance Film Festival, where he spent much of the week premiering his new movie based on the origins of National Lampoon, A Futile and Stupid Gesture.
The podcast host was chatting about Domhnall’s Peter Rabbit co-star Rose Byrne, when he mentioned how much he loved ‘Juliet, Naked’ (a film she’s in with Chris O’Dowd).
Domhnall piped up with a very sarcastic “Is Chris O’Dowd in that too? Very cool”.
Horowitz had to ask:
Do you harbour resentment against Chris O’Dowd, I feel like there’s an underlying hatred.
Domhnall joked:
No, not at all. I don’t hate him. Look, he’s. He’s not like a bad person, he’s just not a good person. Me and Chris go way back.
I’m not being sarcastic.
The messer.
He went on to say that he actually has huge admiration for his fellow Irishman.
We both auditioned for a thing for a workshop, that Chris was at, we were both auditioning for it to get into the workshop. For a job that was never happening, you had to arrive with a character and do improvy stuff and I remember that Chris was just so damn funny, I didn’t know who he was. I just thought, that guy is amazing. And he’s continued to be amazing ever since.
You guuuuuys.
The guys have only ever been in one movie together, Calvary, but didn’t share any scenes.
Someone, somewhere, make it happen.
