PRIDE 2018 HAS been and gone and what a celebration it was with nearly 60,000 turning out for the celebration in Dublin alone.
Well Dublin Bus are here to kick right in the feels one more time with their video called ‘Proud Dads’.
This year at @DublinPride, we had the proudest bus in the parade, not because it had the most glitter or flags, because it had the proudest people, Proud Dads. Gwan ahead and warm the cockles of your heart. #DBPride #ProudDads pic.twitter.com/tmyu7eDKzC

This year Dublin Bus had a bus just for dads of LGBTQ+ people who had recently come out to their parents. The dads wanted to show how proud they were of their kids and their kids seemed to have no idea that their dads were planning on surprising them.
It’s unbelievably emotional as you can tell.
It combines the lovely initial awkwardness of Irish dads with the sheer love and pride that they have for their kids.
One of the standout dads in the video is the Dad who freely admits that a couple of years ago he’d have never worn a colourful shirt let alone rainbow braces but now he doesn’t care.
Anyone would be delighted to have one gay son, but to have two, I’d impress anybody with that story! They’re incredible guys, I just love the two of them to bits.
Perhaps the most heartwarming and emotional story is of Michael and his dad.
8 months ago, she told us she was going to be trans and 2 months ago she said she’s changing her name to Michael and from now on she was going to be he.
As Michael realises his dad is here to support him you can just hear his dad saying ‘I always told you I was proud of you and I always told you I was going to support you. Now let’s go to Pride’.
It’s a lovely reminder of how important Pride is. Dublin Bus have also partnered with Durex and HIV Ireland in the fight against HIV. Half their fleet are carrying educational posters about condoms and urging safer sex which will run until July 6th.
