Dun Laoghaire's new Wetherspoon's will be open in time for your 12 pubs
AN EARLY CHRISTMAS present for the residents of Dun Laoghaire–pub chain DJ Wetherspoon have announced they’ll be opening doors next Tuesday, December 16.
The UK chain spent €2.8 million developing the 40 Foot Pub in the Pavilion Centre on Marine Road. It will be slightly renamed to The Forty Foot, and will be managed by Dubliner Will Malone who said the pub will be a “great addition” to the Dun Laoghaire community.
The pub, which will be spread out over two floors with an outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour, will see the creation of 60 jobs for locals.
The Forty Foot will specialise in ‘real ales and craft beer’ and promises to be fully wheelchair accessible. Local artist Patrick Cahill was recruited to fill the interior with artwork, and local history and photos will also be on display.
JD Wetherspoons opened their first Irish pub, The Three Tun Tavern in Blackrock, in July. They have also acquired another two sites in Blanchardstown and Swords, as well as their first outside Dublin–in Cork.
