EastEnders made an absolute hames of this letter addressed to Ireland

It’s not making it out of London.

WITH THE INTRODUCTION of its Irish spin-off Redwater, EastEnders has been dabbling in Ireland a lot recently – with our hipster priests and traditional memorial BBQs on the beach.

On Friday night’s episode back in Albert Square, the character of Jack Branning picked up a letter from his kids addressed to little Matthew who had moved away to Ireland.

They chose a fictional address in Galway for Matthew’s location

But when a closeup shot came on screen, people noticed that it was a London postcode at the bottom

It reads:

Matthew, New Cottage, Westnina Way, Galway, Ireland, SE7 9HA

Well, well, well.

They didn’t factor in that people really know their sh*t when it comes to postcodes

And Irish people *really* know their stuff when it comes to EirCodes

And sure enough, the SE7 postcode directs you to the Charlton area of London

Poor Matthew in Galway isn’t going to be seeing that letter any time soon.

Tip to the props department: just write “IRELAND” at the bottom of all letters coming here, and An Post will do the rest.

Be grand.
