LOVE IT OR hate it, Ed Sheeran’s trad-inspired Galway Girl has been a huge hit with his Irish fans.
Last month, the singer was spotted filming a music video in the city, and it didn’t take much guesswork to figure out what it could be for.
The video is finally here, and while most of the details slipped out during filming, there are still a few little surprises in store.
It begins with Ed finishing his gig at the 3Arena in Dublin, before zipping across to Galway for a night on the town (seems practical).
There, he encounters his Galway Girl (Saoirse Ronan) dancing on a table in O’Connor’s pub in Salthill:
Finds Tommy Tiernan and Hector Ó hEochagáin chatting in the jacks:
And gets a punch from Peter Coonan, while Laurence Kinlan looks on.
Here’s the full video, which features Irish dancers, buskers, many pints of Guinness, and Ed being tricked into getting a tattoo that reads ‘Galway Grill’:
A bit of a who’s who of the Irish acting and comedy scenes, isn’t it? And good craic was had by all, no doubt.
