A Galway teen got on the Ellen Show after she wrote a song for her idol Ellen Degeneres
GALWAY TEENAGER Eimear O’Tuathail is a huge fan of Ellen Degeneres – and in April of this year, she wrote a song dedicated to her:
The 17-year-old told RTÉ that she was inspired by other musicians who had been invited on to the show (including the Irish duo Ronan Scolard and Glenn Murphy) and hoped she’d get noticed by the TV personality.

Today, that dream finally came true – at the invitation of Ellen, Eimear flew to Los Angeles and performed her song on the show.
Eimear said that while in LA she wanted to sample some American Starbucks and stock up on fancy lip balm, so Ellen presented her with a whole basket of lip balms and a pink Starbucks drink:

But that wasn’t all – she also presented Eimear with a cheque for $10,000 to pay for college. Eh, wow.
So sweet. Congratulations Eimear! And fair play to Ellen for continuing to be an absolute sounder.
