An elderly lady met Louise O'Neill and gave her a fiver because she thought she was a 'lovely girl' on the Late Late Show

“It’s illegal to refuse granny money.”

AT THE BEGINNING of this month, Irish author Louise O’Neill released her third novel.

Following her previous novels, Only Ever Yours and Asking For It, her new book Almost Love tells the story of a young woman who ends up in a very unhealthy relationship with a man who is nearly twice her age.

Louise has been doing the rounds promoting the book on various TV shows over the last couple of days, but her appearance on the Late Late Show really caught the attention of one Irish granny.

Louise tweeted that she met her latest fan at a book signing.

The elderly lady applauded Louise’s appearance on the Late Late Show, and attempted to slip the author a fiver as a reward.

Louise tried to resist the offering, but we all know that there’s no force stronger than an old woman trying to slip someone a fiver.

The gesture made Louise miss her grandmother.

To be honest, all of the people who had the pleasure of reading that tweet are probably missing their nanas too.
