What's in my makeup bag? Ellie Jayden

Having a rummage through our favourite faces’ wares.

Each week, we’ll be taking a peek into some of our faves’ makeup bags to see their must-have products, because we’re nosey. This week, it’s the turn of cosplayer and YouTuber Ellie Jayden. You can follow her on YouTube here and on Instagram here.

Her earliest makeup memories

“My earliest makeup memory is when I became obsessed with My Chemical Romance and Brody Dalle in secondary school. I really wanted to emulate Gerard Way, Frank Iero and Brody, so I used a cheap blusher from an Argos makeup kit (the HORROR) to use as a red eye-shadow.

I blended the eye-shadow all around my eye, so I had that half-dead look. And you know what? I was LIVING for it.

“Even now I look back on it as an iconic look in my small town secondary school. Haha. #OnlyEmoInTheVillage.

“I didn’t begin wearing foundation until 5th or 6th year and that was only because I was introduced to the Maybelline pan-stick (do they even make those anymore?) by a much more make-up savvy friend. Since then, I have tried many different types of foundation to suit my pale Irish skin and have thankfully found some makeup bag staples.”

Her makeup bag and what’s inside

“I really love Fairy Glow by Beautiful Movements Cosmetics. It is cruelty-free and really easy to use – it’sa mineral foundation with really decent coverage. I also love the new Fenty by Rihanna. The foundation I use from her collection is  the lightest shade possible, I use it on it’s own most of the time but I often mix it with other foundations to make the shades lighter to suit my skin. It is a very matte foundation though, so be warned!

“After that, I began using different types of making. Trying and failing to use most of them, until I became really good at applying liquid eyeliner. My signature look would be winged eyeliner on top and sometimes on the bottom too! I love creating a sharp cat eye and then drawing flicks on the top and bottom lash I usually use the Catrice Liquid Eyeliner in ’010 Don’t Leave Me!’, as it has a really tip which makes it easy to create a precise wing. Then I finish off my look with bright red or pink lip.

“I love Essence Good Girl Bad Girl lipstick and if I want to feel extra glam I will use my Chanel lipstick in the shade ’Passion 104′. Oooh lala!

“I love playing around with makeup. As a cosplayer, I love trying loads of different looks to try and emulate some of my favourite film/comic book characters. It’s so much fun! I am by no means a pro and am always learning something new when it comes to makeup, there’s always room to improve.
