Emily Blunt got John Krasinski to fire her mate so she could take the role in A Quiet Place
YOU KNOW THAT mate that would sell you down the river given half the chance? Well, it turns out Emily Blunt is that mate.
The actress, who is currently starring in the highly-acclaimed horror film, A Quiet Place, with her husband, John Krasinski, told Graham Norton that she had the original actress fired so she could take the role.
Oh, and that original actress is a good friend of Emily’s. Sound Blunt, sound.
Explaining the situation to Graham, Emily said that after John, who also directed the movie, pitched her the premise, she wasn’t up for it.
The actress said that the dark nature of the film didn’t appeal to her as she had recently given birth and was preparing to shoot Mary Poppins – both of which had her in a ‘state of joy’.
And basically John’s film was the furthest thing from joy you could imagine.
However, it all turned around when Emily read the script and decided she wanted in.
Backing his wife, John joked that the original lead could have been problematic, saying: “I’d heard she was a diva.”
Interestingly, Emily says she is still friends with the unnamed actress.
Well, that’s what she thinks anyway.
