LONDON WAS CRAMMED with thousands of Harry Potter fans yesterday who gathered for the final film in the magical adventure series.
The cast members gathered in Trafalgar Square to speak to fans, with Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, telling them that Harry’s story would never end.
Each and every person, not just here in this square but around the world who have watched these films for the last 10 years, they will always carry the films with them for the rest of their lives.
Also present were his co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
JK Rowling, the author of the series of books on which the films are based, wiped away tears and thanked the actors for “the amazing things they did for my favourite characters”.
Fans gathered in the rain in Trafalgar Square to watch the stars walk the red carpet, and in Leicester Square where the movie was shown.
To make the day even more special, a nearby street was transformed into the magical shopping area Diagon Alley.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the eighth and last film in the franchise and depicts Harry’s final confrontation with the evil Lord Voldemort. This is the first time a Harry Potter film is shown in 3D.
It marks the end of an era that began when Rowling – who was then an unknown writer – published Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997.
The series went on to sell 450 million copies around the world.
Pictured below are the stars – and their fans – at the premiere yesterday.
