EZRA MILLER: ACTOR, singer and the catalyst proving to be shaking up celebrity style with his unapologetic approach to fashion.
Ezra captured audiences in We Need To Talk about Kevin in 2006, but is now probably best known for breaking fashion ‘rules’ on and off the red carpet.
At the recent Paris premiere for his new movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Ezra turned up wearing a Pierpaolo Piccioli x Moncler … Dress? Coat? Bodysuit? Sleeping?
For so long, male celebrities’ mainstream fashion has been nothing short of uninspired. Is it any wonder women end up being divided into best and worst dressed and men don’t, given that they dare to think outside of the box when it comes to the typical, hetero-normative style guide imposed on them while the lads rock up in tuxedos? (Cue my best Miranda Priestly impersonation – “groundbreaking”.
While Ezra does not identify as male or female, (though has not publicly specified his preferred pronouns), he continues to set the bar high when it comes to challenging the public’s perception of what a person – particularly someone in the spotlight – should wear for an event.
For example, here he cosplaying as Toadette at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year.
Stunning.
He regularly plays with colour and texture, in fashion and in makeup.
In fairness, it helps when you have cheekbones that could grate cheese.
Put simply. he just doesn’t give a fuck when it comes to fashion, as nobody should.
As RuPaul’s said in the past, “we’re all born naked and the rest is drag”. Unless you’re wearing a uniform in which its purpose is to protect, as was brought up during a recent article on that episode of The Apprentice, feel free to wear what you want without the shackles of expectation.
Because the only thing that’s never in fashion is conformity, right?
Now, get out there and give it loads, à la Ezra.
