THIS MORNING, Facebook and Instagram went down around the world.

And immediately, in a stampeding herd, thousands of people took to Twitter to make jokes about it.

For many, it was a life-changing experience. Either for the better

Or the worse.

Users experienced a number of immediate, pressing problems.

Even spreading the news was hard.

So a lot of people took time to re-examine their priorities

And reach out to those most important to them.

There were some innovative solutions.

And some users tried heroically to impose a sense of calm.

For one person, though, it was a time of hope.
