Facebook map shows 'friend' links between locations
AN INTERN ON FACEBOOK’S data infrastructure engineering team has produced a map of the world depicting the locations of people linked together through the social networking site.
Paul Butler said he was “interested in seeing how geography and political borders affected where people lived relative to their friends”.
Facebook has over 500m active users and the average user has 130 friends. Butler plotted the links so that cities with the most friendships between them show up in white, while the black areas are the sections with the least connections.
