18 essential facts of life for oily skinned gals

*blots face on receipt*

1. You run fast from any product promising a ‘dewy’ look. Because you’ll never look ‘dewy’, just very sweaty

2. Your face kinda does the job of a highlighter for you…

3. …Except it also highlights things you do not wish to highlight, like between your eyebrows

4. You laugh in the face of foundation that claims to stay on for 16 hours. Meet my chin and DIE, you fiend

5. Yet you still grab anything that says ‘mattifying, pore minimising’ on it. Just in case

6. And you have a setting powder for each handbag, because forgetting it is not an option

7. Any time is a good time to powder if you feel shine coming on. Walking down the street, sitting at your desk, in the middle of the pub

8. You’ve blotted yourself with kitchen roll, toilet paper, table napkins, receipts – just anything you have to hand

9. And you take a goooooood look at what it sucked out of your skin. So satisfying

10. You feel personally attacked by warm weather, when sweat mixes with your regular oil to produce a new level of grease

11. You have touched your face and felt genuine disgust at what you’ve found there

12. Your most repeated question is “Am I shiny?”

13. And you get very offended if people don’t answer this question honestly

14. Especially when someone is taking a picture, and your face ends up shining brighter than the sun

15. Liquid eyeliner regularly meets a sticky, smeary end on your oily eyelids

16. You’d love to do fancy eyeshadow looks, but you know they’d just end up like this

17. Then you read somewhere that oily skin wrinkles slower, and felt kind of smug

18. So you’ll take the grease in exchange for eternal youth. That’s how it works, right?
