Father sells original Spiderman comic to pay for daughter's wedding
WEDDINGS ARE AN expensive business these days, and it’s difficult for many parents to watch their kids struggle to pay for what should be the most wonderful day of their lives.
That’s what happened to Richard Schaen of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, who was so concerned over the cost of his daughter’s big day that he decided to make the ultimate sacrifice. He decided to sell his comics.
According to Cleveland.com, he had a box of them stored away, and the first one he found was an original copy of ‘the Amazing Spider-Man’. As in the first one ever, which came out on March 1, 1963.
He sold the comic online for $7,900 and is planning to use the money to pay for the food at the wedding reception.
He gave up reading comics when Jane, his daughter, was born as they had become more expensive and he no longer had time to read them. Now though, he’s going to use the remaining comics to raise money for other family projects.
