A trad band performed the Father Ted theme song outside the Father Ted house, and it was delightful
EVERY DAY, SCORES of Irish people make the all-important pilgrimage to Father Ted’s house in Co. Clare. They pay their respects, take a few profilers and set off on their way. It’s the millennial version of going to Lourdes.
Ímar are a trad band based in Glasgow. The quintet is comprised of members from Ireland, England, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Yesterday the band were passing through Co. Clare when they decided to pull up outside the house and perform a rendition of the theme song.
And it’s utterly delightful.

Since it was uploaded to Facebook last night, the video has been viewed over 66,000 times and attracted a rake of comments. (Drink, feck, arse – that kind of thing.)
People’s only complaint? They didn’t manage to capture the noise of a helicopter crashing.
Well, you can’t have everything.
