The Fermanagh GAA Twitter account sent potentially the best Irish tweet of 2017 when covering their league final

Time management.

DEVENISH GAA CLUB from Garrison in County Fermanagh triumphed in the Senior Football League Division 1 Final last night, beating out Ederney by a single point in Brewster Park.

Those hoping to follow the game on the official Fermanagh GAA Twitter account weren’t seeing any updates for the first quarter of the match at all. What had gone wrong?

Well, the person livetweeting the game had an update after 23 minutes on the delay

“Apologies, cow calved and just into game now”

Has to be done.

The account, as ever, dutifully supplied a full minute-by-minute update for the rest of the match, but it was the calving tweet that has understandably been getting all the attention – with hundreds of retweets overnight.

Instantly, people were hailing it as the quintessential GAA tweet of 2017

Under the circumstances, missing only 23 minutes was an achievement in itself

They had their priorities right – and, as excuses go, it wasn’t a bad reason to be late.
