Last night's First Dates Ireland threw up a classic conundrum, but where do you stand on it?

‘That pissed me off.’

IN LAST NIGHT’S episode of First Dates Ireland Diane from Waterford was paired with Eoin from Dublin.

Unlike other couples on the show however, the pair actually met before they made it to the First Dates Restaurant as they ended up sitting beside each other on the Luas en route to the venue.

Between that fateful meeting and the way the date progressed, it looked like both Diane and Eoin were onto a real winner.

There were compliments, coy looks and clear indicators that this was headed for second date territory.

And then the bill was placed between them.

“Right, so what do you want to do then?” Diane asked Eoin. “Do you want to go halves?”

After a little deliberation between the pair – Eoin said he’d pay, Diane called him ‘silly’, Eoin acquiesced, and the pair went halves.

All good, right? Wrong.

Speaking to camera, Diane said:

He let me pay half. That pissed me off. He could have paid. Let’s be honest.

So, when it came to the crunch, did going dutch dash love’s young dream?

Thankfully, no. There will be a second date, but as far as Diane is concerned, Eoin has some redeeming to do.

He can pay for the meal next time though. I’m not impressed with that. I offered. I didn’t mean it, but hey! He can pay for it next time!

Right, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty; do you think the man should be expected to foot the bill on the first date?
