The Maitre d' on First Dates Ireland was the biggest ride of the evening

FIRST DATES IRELAND was a hit last night.

It had us cringing, laughing and hoping, and even gave us a villain to hiss at.

At the very heart of the First Dates restaurant though, is its staff; waitress Alice, Barman Ethan:

And the Maitre d’ Mateo. Not a guy called Rasher from Coolock, but this guy:

Mateo Sania is originally from Croatia, but has lived in Ireland for the past 12 years, and is currently the Maitre d’ at Dylan McGrath’s restaurant Taste.

He was a hit

Federica and her date, Donegal lad Lee, may not have hit it off. Kildare man Darryl may have blown off the lovely Amy. And the most hopeful pair Tynan and Simon may have not made it past the second date. Sadface.

But when it was all over, at least we still had Mateo
