ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER instance of President Donald Trump putting his foot in his mouth.
President Trump met with French leader Emmanuel Macron in Paris today and had tow rather awkward interactions with First Lady of France Brigitte Macron.
Firstly, he made an absolute hames of their handshake. Instead of offering a warm greeting, he sort of just grabbed her hand and refused to let go. It resembled the most awkward Sign of Peace ever.
Later on, he attempted to compliment the First Lady by remarking on her figure.
“You’re in such good shape!” he marveled, before turning to Emanuel Macron. “She’s in such good physical shape. Beautiful!”

Now we’re not international diplomats or anything, but we would have thought that you should probably steer clear of passing comment on the First Lady of France and her figure, even if she is in “such good physical shape”.
Not only is it very weird to openly assess and critique a woman’s body when you’ve just met her, it’s also a frankly insane thing for the President of the United States to say to a foreign dignitary on an official visit when there are cameras and journalists standing within earshot.
The President’s remarks come just weeks after he caused a stir by stating that RTÉ’s Caitriona Perry had a “nice smile” on her face.
It never ends, does it?
