Microsoft Windows was launched 28 years ago today, and here’s how it looked
THE VERY FIRST version of Microsoft Windows was launched upon the world’s office workers 28 years ago today.
Microsoft Windows 1.0 was released on November 20, 1985 as one of the first graphical interfaces on PCs. Here’s how your desktop would have looked back then:

SO much slicker than MS-DOS. Also, check out Red getting slaughtered in that game of Reversi.
Here’s how it looked in operation:
Windows 1.0 was followed two years later by Windows 2.0 with a rather fetching blue background:

Which in turn was followed by the all-grey Windows 3.0, arriving on the scene in 1990:
