Elle claims that “nothing says casual-chic like a pair of flared jeans” and describes them as “ultra-flattering”. Vogue has called them “the legging of the denim world” and described them as “quite comfortable” and “really very easy”.

A quick Google search for “spotted wearing flares” reveals that Amal Clooney, Sofia Vergara, January Jones, Jessica Alba, Kendall Jenner and Heidi Klum are among the celebrities to have adopted the 1970s trend.

And now they’re about to take over the high street.

The news has been welcomed by many women who are glad to be freed from the tyranny of skinny jeans.

While others aren’t so keen.

(Fast forward to 2018 when we’re all wearing flares and can’t believe we wore skinny jeans for so long.)
