'Rare' vintage Quinnsworth plastic bag for sale... for €997

Possibly the best money-making scheme ever.

DO YOU remember this man?

(Maurice Pratt from Quinnsworth, not Darth Vader.)

If so, then you may also remember his plastic bags. These reliables transported many a bacon joint and/or six-pack of Dutch Gold:

Are you being flooded with nostalgia right now? Do you have loads of money?

Well you’re in luck, son. One enterprising soul is hoping to bid poverty goodbye by flogging his collectors-item Quinnsworth shopping bag to the highest bidder.

Says Dublin-based seller ‘Daxon’:

Are you fed up of that Tesco bag for life?
Do you feel like something has been missing in your life?
I have your shopping solution! A mint condition Quinnsworth plastic bag…

Among its qualities, the advertiser says, are:

- Rare
- Handle-free for ultimate versatility
- Feather light, can be taken anywhere
- Waterproof up to 100m
- Can be folded in half up to seven times for ease of storage
- Capacity of just under 7.56 litres (that’s a lot of Dutch Gold)
- Made in Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal (100% Irish Plastic)

Apparently it’s also “carbon dated to 1990″. And is being sold for the bargain price of €997 on Adverts.ie.

Though for serious buyers, the advertiser offers to “throw in the HMV vouchers and two 1993 Homestead jam jars.”

Purchasers so far are sceptical, with one asking “What a deal why are you selling it so cheap”. Others are more concerned about the quality:

Are there any holes in it? I need for taking out the ashes from the fire, if there are holes, I’m out.
