Flaming Lips and Bell X1 for day one of Forbidden Fruit festival

That’s the June Bank Holiday weekend sorted.

FLAMING LIPS AND Bell X1 are among the first acts confirmed for the Forbidden Fruit festival in Dublin this summer.

The two-day event takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham over the June Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June). It was scaled back from three days last year.

A small number of the acts confirmed for the Saturday line up are being announced today; joining Flaming Lips and Bell X1 are Flying Lotus (with a live 3D audiovisual show), F**k Buttons, Nils Frahm, The Young Knives and Irish band Vann Music.

Flaming Lips are returning to Kilmainham after a headlining slot at the first Forbidden Fruit in 2011.

Some of the Sunday line up will be announced at the same time tomorrow morning.

This year’s Forbidden Fruit will be the first without the Phantom 105.2 branded Orchard area, with the Dublin radio station set to shed the majority of its staff this weekend. It will rebrand as TXFM with a skeleton staff.
