Forget London 2012… what about Ireland’s chances in the heavy metal Olympics?
DUBLIN BAND WARPATH will be hoping for a gold medal of a different kind to the likes of Katie Taylor and John Joe Nevin this week, as they represent Ireland at the world heavy metal Olympics.
A global battle of the bands competition will take place at Wacken Open Air festival in Germany this week.
Warpath will compete with unsigned heavy metal bands from 27 countries around the world including newcomers India and China. They defeated 24 other Irish bands earlier this year to come through the qualifying rounds with the best times/tunes to make it to Germany.
The metal Olympic champions will come away from Wacken with a recording contract and the respect of the metal world.
Godspeed Warpath. Godspeed. Don’t forget to load up on carbs.
We wonder who will officiate at the opening ceremony? Bruce Dickenson? Ozzy?
